ISES-Chicago BE EDUCATED Wedding & Business Etiquette

The June meeting featured ISES Chicago’s Wedding & Business Etiquette program, which was a co-sponsored program with ABC-IL.  Guests arrived to Swissotel and were directed up to the Edelweiss Room, which featured a unique room plan that had a breath-taking view of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan. 

Upon entering the event space, guests were greeted with a signature cocktail and the sweeping view of Chicago. Attendees mingled and networked until the call came to be seated for the day’s presentation. While the scrumptious salad of mixed greens, watermelon radish, green apples, candied pecans, manchego cheese, herbed croutons, citrus vinaigrette was served, Jane Skarosi the ABC-IL State Coordinator, welcomed guests to the event and provided updates for the Association of Bridal Consultants. Ashley Lamy of the Swissotel also said a few words about the hotel’s event spaces and offered a tour at the end of the meeting. Following the welcome remarks, Barb Harris the incoming ISES Chicago President, provided updates for the ISES Chicago Chapter and thanked our sponsors. Swissotel provided the gorgeous linen that highlighted the spring arrangements from Flowers by Stem, while Hall’s Rentals provided the ghost chairs to let the dynamics of the Edelweiss Room shine.

The luncheon continued with Jane Skarosi’s presentation on Wedding Etiquette. She has been in the wedding business for over 29 years and shared how wedding etiquette has evolved over the years. But there is one thing that hasn’t changed – remembering to tell your vendors and guests “Thank You.” After Jane’s presentation, the second course was served and guests thoroughly enjoyed the Mahi-Mahi with edamame, carrots, purple rice, orange fennel beurre blanc, garnished with micro greens & preserved lemon. It was then time for a presentation on Business Etiquette and we were honored to have Diahann Boock speak to the guests. She is an accomplished business and leadership coach who helps individuals get out of their own way to achieve the results they desire.  Diahann focused her presentation on the importance of networking for your business and the guidelines for building your business.

The luncheon concluded with Crystal Chauvin’s presentation on Social Media Etiquette. Crystal is the Marketing Queen for the wedding industry and shared the importance of being an active participant in social media and recognizing the partners that you work with on events. After closing remarks, the guests were then welcomed to the dessert bar and they were all buzzing about what they learned from these three guest speakers. Thank you for a wonderful event!
